Dr Merchant completed his M.B.B.S.from Grant Medical College & Sir J.J.Group of Hospitals, Mumbai in 2004. He further went on to finish his post graduation training in Orthopedic surgery from Sancheti Hospital, Pune and thus achieved the M.S. (Orthopedics) degree. Sancheti Hospital is one of the biggest centre for Arthroscopy and Joint Replacement in India. He then worked in the Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai and Bombay Hospital, Mumbai for about 2 years where he had further training in Arthroscopy of Knee and Shoulder and Joint Replacement Surgeries of Knee and Hip. He then left for Germany for 6 month Fellowship training in Arcus Sport Clinic, Pforzheim, Germany under Dr. Andree Ellerman. Arcus Sport Clinic does the largest number of Arthroscopic Surgeries in Germany. Here he took advanced training in Arthroscopy, Joint Replacement Surgeries with special training in Sports Medicine and related surgery. He was also invited to present a paper in Hamburg, Germany for Knee Anterior Cruciate Ligament Surgery.
